Week 44 Focus on Life~Saints, Souls, Sugar Skulls and Scares.....

Week 44....I think that means only 7 weeks until Christmas! This year that is not terrifying me quite as much, as my geographically very extended family and I are planning a together-vacation in February 2014 rather than Christmas gifts...so no Christmas shopping to speak of for me this year!

I am going to stop planning for my weekly photos, though....because that always seems to jinx it! I thought I would have tons of great kiddie-in-costume photos this week, but no...both of us had to work last night, so no trick or treating for us! I left a substantial box of candy with a help-yourself sign outside on the porch, and that seems to have worked. We normally have hundreds of kids.

So, here's a little montage of pre-Hallowe'en in Ontario...we don't really decorate to the extent that those in the US do, but there was some fun stuff to be seen.

I'm excited to see what scary deliciousness the other participants have come up with!

Happy Toussaints!

  1. Ah, the 'help yourself' sign didn't work very well for us last night (one kid came and took *everything* :( )... but I love your pictures - one of my son's class colleague decorates her house to the very extreme and it's always fun to go trick-or-treating on her street!

  2. We did have one of our daughters still out trick-or-treating (even if the older one has deemed it 'for kids' and no longer wants to be seen in a costume). And the rain held back - so a great night in all!

  3. At least you get some kids. I have never had kids come to our house and we have been here 3 years now. I miss seeing all the costumes :(

  4. I love Halloween yet I live in the middle of nowhere and get no little visitors so I don't decorate any more.

Great shots of your Halloweeny world.

  8. We only had 7 kids this year normally get closer to 30 and of course I buy for 60... When we moved to the east coast there were lots of decorations.. this year all I saw was me and one other neighbour... and as for Christmas I have done nothing! Your photo collageis great.. Most weeks I run around friday morning trying to find something to take a picture of!

  9. I like your photo collage. I live in the country so I don't get trick or treaters. People here take their kids to town.

  10. We never get any trick or treaters due to our rural location, but I do miss having them. Pretty shots of the season!

  11. I think leaving a "help yourself" sign with the Halloween candy is the ultimate in trust! We had exactly 8 trick or treat-ers and had candy for many more. Uh oh......

  12. Great photos. We had about 24 kids come to our house, but we live on the edge of town and the parents like to go to the main street in town and then get the kiddies home. But every year I buy lots of candy so I can eat what was left.

  13. Great photos in your collage!! We had 1 group of 4 kids show up - usually we don't get any. We live in a neighborhood where no one turns on their lights - kids walk right past us. Sorry you had to work Halloween night!

  14. Lori, what a great collage - so festive! And oh my - that countdown til Christmas!! I always wait too long to get started on shopping and getting organized...every year I say I'll start earlier!
Your family trip in Feb. sounds wonderful. Looking forward to hearing more about it!
